“I’m excited about the opportunity to put my knowledge of the community and my education to work serving the Town of Onondaga. I’m most interested in listening to and being responsive to town residents, ensuring the town government works for them.”
-Ellen Terrien

When he’s not working, Martin enjoys spending time with his wife and kids- relaxing in their backyard and gardening, taking family trips to places like Southwick Beach or Cape Cod, or teaching their daughters how to swim. Whether it was working as a lifeguard in his younger years or in his current role where he coordinates mental health care for youth and their families, Martin has always been dedicated to helping others. This commitment to service was instilled in him early on by his family and has remained a guiding value throughout his life.
Martin grew up on Onondaga Hill and graduated from West Genesee Schools. Recently, he and his family moved back to Onondaga Hill from the Strathmore neighborhood in Syracuse to provide their children with a similar sense of community. Martin is married and has two children who attend Rockwell Elementary in the Onondaga Central School District. His family has been part of the Town of Onondaga since 1986.

In 2012, Ellen married Paul and moved to Paris, where she learned French and worked in tourism, welcoming their first son, Louis. In 2017, they moved to Boston and had their second son, Nicolas, before returning to Onondaga in 2019. Ellen later earned a Master’s in Teaching from Le Moyne College and became an ENL teacher in the East Syracuse Minoa school district.
